Dwolla makes integration with Plaid available to enterprise customers

By OpenBankingExpo | 13 March 2025

Clients of US-based account-to-account payment solution Dwolla are now able to leverage Plaid’s instant account verification, real-time balance check and Pay by Bank payments via a single vendor and a single API, as a result of its expanded integration with the data network.

The Dwolla-Plaid integration, which was announced in October 2024, has now been made widely available, which means that the unified API is now accessible to enterprise customers.

“Our journey toward a fully unified payments platform has reached a pivotal moment,” said Dave Glaser, chief executive officer of Dwolla.

“This integration streamlines our clients’ infrastructures and accelerates their ability to innovate, and it’s now fully available to clients.

“In partnership with Plaid, we’re providing a scalable, robust solution that can transform the way mid-to-large organizations manage and execute financial transactions.”

The new solution operates via a single API to provide access to Open Banking services integrated with Pay by Bank payment methods, including ACH, FedNow and RTP.

“Partnering with Dwolla represents our commitment to simplifying bank-based payments in financial services,” added Brian Dammeir, global head of payments and financial management at Plaid.

“Our combined solution offers enhanced security and efficiency, empowering businesses to integrate essential banking functions with ease and confidence—and we’re thrilled that it’s now available to enterprise customers.”

Branded Research is the companies’ first beta client and is using the new integration to enhance its survey payout process.

Dwolla intends to improve the unified solution by integrating additional Plaid functionalities, including identity data, expanded transaction insights, and ‘Plaid Signal’ for advanced ACH return risk scoring.

Dwolla and Plaid are also able to work together through Dwolla’s Open Banking-enabled ‘Secure Exchange Solution’, which allows clients to maintain a separate contract and API integration with both companies.

Earlier this month, US-based credit, collections and accounts receivable platform Bectran integrated with Plaid to provide a faster and more secure way to expedite bank verifications by removing “idle time” from credit application reviews.

Plaid is a Platinum Partner of Open Banking Expo USA 2025, which is taking place on June 26, 2025 in New York. Click here to find out more about partnering, exhibiting and speaking, and to register.
