Brite Payments extends European coverage to Denmark

By Ellie Duncan | 10 August 2023

Brite Payments has expanded its Nordic coverage to Denmark, launching Open Banking-powered instant payments and instant payouts in the country.

The Stockholm-based fintech already has full product coverage in Finland and Sweden.

With Brite ‘Instant Payments’ now live in Denmark, merchants and businesses across a range of industries and verticals will be able to offer account-to-account payments processing, while ‘Instant Payouts’ enables businesses to disburse payments, such as refunds, withdrawals or payouts, in real time.

Online banking penetration in Denmark reached nearly 95% in 2022, among a population of around six million.

It also has a well-established electronic personal identification system, like Sweden, according to Brite Payments.

“Denmark is primed for the uptake of instant bank payments, as awareness of the benefits continues to increase amongst merchants,” said Lena Hackelöer, founder and chief executive officer of Brite Payments.

“The market is a logical next step in our expansion and we’re excited to now offer instant payments and instant payouts to merchants and consumers in Denmark, as well as our existing merchant base across Europe.”

In May, Brite launched a proprietary instant payments network to enable instant payments and payouts in Europe via Open Banking, providing European merchants and businesses with a “complete, out-of-the-box” instant payments and payouts solution.

Lena Hackelöer is speaking at Open Banking Expo UK & Europe on 18-19 October in London. Find out more about the speaker line-up and agenda, and get your tickets here.
